To celebrate hitting WE Ride double digits we hit the road and meet Trev the Rev (no one actually calls him that anymore!) to learn about him finding two wheels in Blighty, returning to New Zealand and exploring Europe.
WE Ride is all about sharing our passion for bikes by introducing a team member, what they ride, wear and use in the shed. It’s designed to motivate you to get into the shed, into your gear, and out there riding!
Grab a bev’ and let’s meet Trev and hit the revs.
What’s your name, what do you ride, and what do you do at Whites?
Trevor Cheshire, 2017 BMW S1000RR and I’m a Territory Sales Manager. I manage our Upper North Island dealer channel. I work with the dealers in my area to maximise product presence in stores and to manage merchandising and inventory.

How long have you had your bike and what mods have you made to it so far?
I’ve owned the Beemer for five months and it has the following fitted:
- SC Project CRT titanium muffler.
- Puig tinted screen.
- R&G Crash Knobs.
- Tail tidy.
- TWM Quick Release Fuel Cap.
- Bridgestone S23 Tyres.
- Custom livery.

Do you have more plans for your BMW?
In addition to road riding, I plan on taking the bike to track days.
I will be changing the gearing from standard as it’s a little tall for track work. I will also look at adding some aftermarket shorty brake and clutch levers. Other than that, I’m happy with the bike as it is.

What sort of riding do you enjoy and where do you like to do it?
I live in the countryside, so I love getting up very early on a Saturday morning and going for a blast through some of the local country roads.
I do enjoy riding fast, so a few trips to the track are on the cards!

Are there any notable products that you use on the regular to enhance your riding?
I use a number of products we sell...
- Putoline Bike Wash.
- Oxford Mint Visor Mate.
- Oxford Mint Fast Finish Polish
- Putoline DX11 Chain Lube.
- Whites Tie Downs.
- Whites Wheel Chock.
- Whites Ultra Mini Pump.
- Whites Paddock Stands.

Tell us a bit about your life on two wheels...
I was born in Whakatane and relocated to the UK with my British parents at age three. I started riding when I was ten years old on a Suzuki RM80, having watched my uncles race up until then. I used to sit in class at school drawing pictures of bikes on my books and read lots of bike magazines and that’s how the passion grew.
I was lucky that my parents bought me a bike and I’ve always owned one or more ever since.
I raced for about a year in the Juniors on the RM80. The following year I also started competing in Observed Trials riding on a Yamaha TY80. I ended up moving to Trials and started riding a Fantic 100 and competed in the Junior AMCA, placing as high as fifth that year. I eventually moved back to compete in motocross on a Yamaha YZ125.
When I turned 16, I got my first road bike and since then I have owned and ridden over 30 bikes. At age 23 I returned to New Zealand and have been based here ever since. I've ridden all around the country and taken part in many test days and track days at Pukekohe and Taupo circuits.
In 2006 I spent over a year in the UK for work. During that time, I rode around the UK and Europe.
While in the UK I also managed to get the opportunity to ride on two of my favourite tracks; Brands Hatch and Donnington, on my Suzuki GSXR1000 — an experience I will never forget.
The other highlight was a ten-day ride around Europe on my Suzuki GSXR1000 with my wife as pillion. We travelled through France, Saint Tropez, Nice, Monaco, Northern Italy, Italian Alps, to Switzerland and back up through France to the UK.
I have been riding Adventure and off-road for some time and had the itch to get another sports bike. The BMW is a joy to ride and I’m looking forward to finding its (or rather my) limits on the track, again.

Tell us about your gear — why you chose it and what you like about it.
I have the Alex Marquez Shoei X-SPR Pro helmet, simply the best-quality helmet and so comfortable to wear.
Richa Assen leathers and Richa Warrior Gloves. Richa makes fantastic quality kit, so a no-brainer when choosing.
I also have an Oxford Heist Jacket as it’s great for casual riding wear along with my Dririder Titan Jeans and Richa Andorra Boots.
There are usually a number of items sitting in my cart each month, ready to push the Buy Now. So, the collection is always growing!
